For the last few months, I've been working hard on this brand new ebook. Typing, picture taking, rewriting, editing.... Finally, it is now going into the "testing" phase. I'm not going to show you what it is yet.... but I will tell you it's a super cute dress for spring/summer. How do you become a tester for my FABULOUS ebook?

ETA: Pattern is for size 1/2 to 4T

It's as simple as leaving me a comment! Just tell me you want to be a tester! I will post the 2 "winners" tomorrow morning, randomly drawn of course. Tester will be given final version of the ebook as well once it is all finished.

Scouting New Location: Adams Park

So with only 1 car in the family, the kids and I have started taking the bus around town (and by around town, I mean to the Library). We keep passing this park that has this cute shabby building there. I thought it would be great to take pictures there so that was our adventure today!

It was bad timing though... 10:30 AM and the sun was WAY up. I tried to stayed in the open shade, which elimanates 1/2 the building. But I think I got some pretty good shots anyways.

That was his most natural smile... I hate when kids cheese it up lol

Adventure In Babysitting

I got to babysit my sister in law's baby today and it was so fun! Granted, she is only 5 months old and couldn't do much but I just love cuddling babies! She cooed and yelled and peed and spit up. Pretty much a normal routine day for her. I know her mom won't appreciate this, but I didn't put her down for her nap, I just held her the ENTIRE time! It's so much fun spoiling other people's babies....

So not only did I get to hold the baby, I had a chance to take her pictures too. Mental note, taking pictures of babies by youreslf... not a good idea!

This is SOOC (straight out of the camera), taken with my rebel xt and 50mm 1.8 lens with natural light.

I wish my headboard wasn't going through her head, but you make do with what you've got right? I love that she is somewhat smiling AND eating her hand at the same time. I think I took about 30+ shots and only this one was usable. What did we do before digital??? I can't even remember!

You know I LOVE photoshop right? I'm not really going for a natural look here, it might look over process to some people but I like it how it is. I used coffeeshop's free action (again!) but before I did that, I did adjust the temperture and exposure in ACR (adobe camera raw). If you are not shooting in RAW, you should get started! The actual shooting part is no different at all, there is no special way to shoot RAW vs JPEG. You do the exact same thing! RAW just takes up more memory. Then you go to ACR in photoshop, and you can adjust the picture like it is in camera. Go ahead, make the switch next time you take a picture!

Okay, yes, I realized that this post contradicts the post before, but I've got it all figured out!! Sort of... I figured out the action part anyways (thanks to a fellow ILPer!) I took some valentine's picture of Ms. S because she doesn't go to preschool and won't get to do anything fun with her classmates, so I thought she can make some cards herself and sent them to her cousins. We live for little things like this because, quite frankly, it's too cold to go outside and play! That and we don't have a car and can't drive around and explore Logan.

These 2 pictures are both edited in Photoshop Elements 7 and taken with my Canon Rebel xt and 50mm f1.8 lens. Usually I like the very natural looking photos but I wanted to be funky and fun for this shoot. (I use the term loosly becaues I am in no way a professional photographer!) I downloaded some free actions over at Coffeshop, applied urban action for the photo above and color pop for photo below.

Well, when you don't have a car and you live in a small town AND you are impatient, what do you do? you print your pictures out at walmart. It's one hour and 19 cents a copy. Mind you, without a car, one hour means nothing but it's better than waiting by the mailbox for 4 days if we do it online. I just have to wait till hubby gets home to pick them up :)

My Beef with PSE 7!!

I just installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 and it keeps spasing out!! What is up with that?? They are on version 7 already why is there still so many bugs??? Not only that, I've been trying all day to figure out how to install actions into the program. I am having no luck unhide my folders. The internet is a great thing to find info, but sometimes you just need someone next to you to show you (and maybe actually do it for you)!

I gave up after a few hours, plus I was a bit sleepy because my body told me to wake up at 5:30 am! We went over to the in laws for a Super Bowl party, the food was yummy as usual. I was able to get this drooly (is that a word?) pic of Ms. E. She didn't want to smile for me, but that's okay, I love her just the same. Even more after she hurled on me...

Fashion Crime (Have you heard?)

Sometimes people act without thinking about the consequences and this is a MAJOR one! February 10 2009, dubbed "National Bankruptcy Day", all items geared towards kids will all need to go under extensive testing. Sounds good right? Do you know how much that will cost? Do you know how many things a child under 12 comes in contact with in just one hour? This not only affect sellers, but buyers too. As of right now, not even schools and public libraries are exampt! That means they will need to buy ALL new books and supplies or close down. Yes! It is that serious. I want our children to be safe, but this is the wrong way to go about it. Please contact your local congressmen and get the word out! Read more about this subject here!

My First Day as an American! (WE DID IT!)

Yesterday, I went to Salt Lake City for the Naturalization Oath ceremony and it was AWESOME! There were 198 New citizens there, one lady couldn't even wait until the actual ceremony and had to take the Oath ahead of time because she was about the give birth! She's okay though, they gave her the oath and took her to the hospital with an Ambulance.

First, we had the Pledge Allegiance , but before we did, a SLC firefighter went through each words and explained what the words meant.

A lady lead us to sing the National Anthem, which was interesting to hear We had 2 speakers, Cindy Toone from Daughters of the American Revolution and Michael Fox, another SLC firefighter. They spoke about freedom and the most important responsibility of an us citizen, which is to vote.

Then we took the Oath of Citizenship all together. And the Judge (who was a special judge because he took the Oath ceremony when he was in law school!) and some of the new citizens made some remarks. It was really inspiring to hear them speak, and feel their love for America. I was too chicken to stand up but I felt extremely grateful to all those who helped me get here, especially the boutique community. This really is a great country and I'm proud to live here and proud to be a citizen!

Back To Real Life....

The first week back from vacation is always so depressing to me. I miss my family, I miss the chaos, I miss the noise, I miss the smell...EVERYTHING! I just spent the last 3 weeks in (not sunny) California visiting my family and it was so fun and relaxing. Okay, relaxing was a poor choice of word because the only time it was relaxing was when I went to get a massage. There were a total of 21 people in the house! Including 4 kids, 2 tweens and 2 teenagers, enough said. But I had a fun time anyways. I got mani-pedis, 3 massages, and a haircut! We shopped till we drop and ate until our bellies were full! My cousin Jeff hosted a sushi night and made sushi for all of us! He was my favorite cousin that night!

Hands down though, the highlight of the trip was getting to hang out with these 3 kids here! They are my cousins babies and they are just SOOOOOOOO adorable! They made me want to have another one, until, that is, Logan starts spitting up every 30 minutes. I hate the smell of spit up!

Speak of the lil devil, there he is! He is suffering from some major cradle cap right now, but so chubby and cute nonetheless... Check out his natural Mohawk! I love that kid to death!

This is Ashton (Jeff's kid), he doesn't like me much because I always take away his binky and that drives him nuts. Then he makes a quizzical look at me and gives me 2 kissing sounds... that means he wants his binky back. Cute right??

And here is the queen of them all, Lauren. We call her lala, and she is the BOSS! She has a mind of her own and don't need you to tell her anything. She loves following Sean and Sami around but gives them a piece of her mind if they get out of line.

6 more months till I see them again, that is too long I think!

Sending out Christmas cards...

This is one of my favorite activities to do around the holiday season. I love getting cards and I love giving cards. I like to send them out early, so I can guilt people into sending one back (insert evil laugh here). No really, it's not pulling teeth like it is with other people. I love getting the kids all dressed up, yelling about eating a drippy peanut butter sandwich right when we're about to go out, the kids telling me they are done with pictures after just 2 minutes....sigh.... it's just bliss

I figured no one really cares what Rhead and I look like, we don't change that much, I only include the kids. Plus Rhead gives me hell more than the kids do and I can't bribe him with a dollar. Sean was trying his hardest to please me, as always and Sami was being a diva, AS always. But I did get this LOVELY shot of the 2 of them.

Don't you just love digital cameras??? This was taken with my canon rebel xt, 50mm lens, RAW, manual, at around 4 pm as the sun was setting. Rhead WAS suppose to be holding the reflector but he kept walking into my shot or distracting the kids and I think by the time I took this shot, he was in the car reading! He wanted to get paid to like the kids did ($2 each!) but I told him he was fired!

I did very light post processing: level, wb, sharpen and burn the door. Which I didn't blow out her shirt, but no untrained eye will be able to tell. I got this super cute card template from a fellow ILP, have I mentioned how much I love ILP??? If you want to learn about photography, join! I've learned so much from reading other people's posts and critiques.

This was our picture 3 years go, look how Rhead is holding the baby! You'd think she was a football or something! And the picture just reminds me of this weird phenomenum that Rhead is shorter than me when we are both sitting even though standing, he is about 5 inches taller than me! It's fun to look at old photos right?? Sometimes I wish I had Sean a little later, so I would have all his baby pictures on digital... scary to think, I had Sean before digital camera was cheap! I'm not gonna go there today I think....

Trimming The Tree

Don't you just love this time of the year?? My mother in law has scented candles burning, which she must because we have this fake tree up. It's a little hard to adjust for Rhead and I but the kids don't mind one little bit. They had fun putting up all the ornaments, singing Christmas songs, drinking hot cocoa, and eating gingerbread.

Then when all was quiet, I took my camera, prop it up on a box on a stand, turned off all the lights except for the ones on the tree. I had my aperture to 22 and shutter speed at 1 second and took this shot. Doesn't it just make you want to snuggle up with your family?? LOVE IT!!! I want to try it again with my kids later when all the boxes get put away and tripod out. We'll see how it goes...

Miss E - 3 Months Shoot

Miss E had her 3rd session with me yesterday, BY HERSELF!! It was tough trying to take her picture and keep her happy without her mom's help, on top of my 4 year old "trying to help!"

I did get some good ones though, but the post processing needs work. When I got to the school lab yesterday to use their programs, it was closed already! So I'm hoping to go back next week to get better results. You'll just have to bear with me with the 3 below :) Just see how cute she is, not how bad the processing is.

I missed last episode of Grey's Anatomy yesterday so I went abc.com to see it online, and they had a little promo for LOST! Lost has to be one of my favorite TV shows of all time. It is so good and frustrating at the same time. If you're a fan of lost, this promo will get your blood pumping. I got mad goose bumps when the scene flashed to Desmond and Penny. I've been trying to teach myself about photography and photoshop this past year. And although at times it has been rough, I'm pretty proud of how far I've come. I read tons on the internet and on my ILP forum, and the photography class I've been taking has helped me out a lot too. But I could not have improve one iota without practice, practice, practice! These 3 pictures are just the latest I've taken. I've moved on to RAW (woooo hooooo) and full manual. It is a LOT easier to edit this way but I don't have enough computer space to shoot in that mode all the time. I can't believe how much you have to buy to support this hobby! But I'm having fun trying to improvise :)

The Endless Possibilities of Nutella

I've recently developed this love for this chocolaty hazelnut spread that is Nutella. I can't even tell you how good it is! It's great on crackers, any type of fruit but my fav is bananas, pretzels, and anything you can think of. It's this fun little snack from Italy that can be found in most grocery stores. I got 2 big jars from costco for cheap but you can buy little jars else where. To get you started, I just tried this awesome and easy reciepe from Everyday Italian and it is quick, easy and fun to do with kids.

Easy Fried Nutella Ravioli

Ingredients

16 wonton wrappers
1 egg, beaten to blend
1 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread (recommended: Nutella)
Vegetable oil, for frying
16 fresh mint leaves
Nonstick vegetable oil spray
Granulated sugar, for dredging
Powdered sugar, for dusting

Directions

Line a baking sheet with plastic wrap. Place 1 wonton wrapper on the work surface. Brush the edges of the wrapper lightly with egg. Spoon 1 tablespoon of chocolate-hazelnut spread into the center of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper diagonally in half over the filling and press the edges of the wrapper to seal. Place the ravioli on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining wonton wrappers, egg, and chocolate-hazelnut spread.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F. Add enough oil to a heavy large frying pan to reach a depth of 2 inches. Heat the oil over medium heat to 350 degrees F.

Working in batches, carefully add the ravioli to the hot oil and cook until they are golden brown, about 45 seconds per side. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the ravioli to a plate lined with paper towels to drain. Then, transfer the cooked ravioli to another baking sheet and keep them warm in the oven while frying the remaining ravioli. (The fried ravioli can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cool them completely, then cover and refrigerate. Before serving, place them on a baking sheet and rewarm in a preheated 375 degrees F oven just until they are heated through, about 7 minutes.)

Spray the top side of the mint leaves very lightly with nonstick spray. Working with 1 leaf at a time, dredge the coated side of the leaves in sugar to coat lightly.

Arrange 2 fried ravioli on each plate. Dust the ravioli with powdered sugar. Garnish with the sugared mint leaves and serve.

I wish I had some pictures to show you but we ate them up so fast, I had no time to get the camera :) We didn't get fancy and do the mint leaves, but it was just as good!

Okay, have you seen a cuter cheerleader??!!? When Tammi emailed about a pink Chicago Bears shirt, I was so excited to make it for her! It was such a project to work on, searching for the team logo and font. Don't you think it turned out adorable? I gotta admit, I'm not a fanatic when it comes to football teams (maybe because Utah doesn't have a pro ball team?), but if I did, I would totally make one for my kid. Maybe even for myself! GOOOOOOOOOOOO BEARS!

My ol' Alma Mater had it's 50th anniversary party last month and the pictures just came out today. I'm kind of bummed that I didn't go to my class 10 year reunion and I missed the 50th birthday party. Granted, the pictures looked like a buncha people that are my grandpa's age, but it would have been nice to hear papa do run run, and see old teachers. Like Mr. Gomez!! He has to be my all time favorite teacher. He taught me band for 4 years and it truly was a wonderful experience.

Some of them were:

~ Meeting him for the first time at the freshman orientation and he told me I had to join band and it would be an easy A for 4 years

~ Mr. Gomez walking around with that blowhorn, yelling at us about how we NEED to march and play at the same time

~ inspecting us on the bus, making sure we weren't doing any hanky panky

~ inspecting us at pismo beach, doing room checks, making sure we weren't doing any hanky panky

Fall Festival 2008

Ahhhh... Fall Festival, are there any other 2 words in the English dictionary that sound more fun than that?? Okay, maybe, but for now, it's the most exciting thing in our lives. Here in Cache Valley, we have this historical working farm that literally takes you back into the pioneer period. The American West Heritage Center has farm animals, covered wagons, oprah house, really old looking houses, and handcarts. Saturday was their Fall Festival, and of course, we went! The price was resonable for something that allows you to have in and out priviliges, a huge corn maze (more on that later), live bands, and activites for the kiddos. Time for picture share!

First Day of Fall

This is our first fall in Cache Valley and the leaves on the mountain are changing colors already. We decided to take a Sunday Family Drive up to see the beautiful colors. Sean was not feeling so well so he had to carry his spuge bucket ( very essential for sick kids or those who get car sick easily.) The road was rocky and bumpy but we did make it eventually and it was beautiful! We saw leaves of all sorts of colors, but they were mostly maple trees (seeing how the place was called Maple Bench!)

Around here, they have these things on the ground call "cattle guards." They are basically widely spread slats of metal to prevent cattle from crossing it. Humans with large feet could easily cross them with no problem, but if you are humans with small feet, "cattle guards" proved to be problematic. As demonstrated here....

A Special Foofa Request

A sweet customer, Tammi, asked me to make this Foofa outfit for her darling little daughter to wear for her birthday. She wanted a stripe work twirl skirt to match her Foofa applique tee. It was daunting to find all the pink fabrics to match but I knew all I had to do is diving into my fabric stash. The twirl skirt is a double layer skirt, with 4 different type of fabric on the top layer to make up the stripe work. This skirt is made with yards of fabric to insure maximum twirlability! (yes that is a word in my book) The whole outfit just turned out so cute and I hope she had a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

BabyGap & GapKids Casting Call

I got the email for a Gap casting call, and I thought it would be fun to enter! I mean sure it would be nice to see your kid in national ads, but really I want a trip to San Francisco! That's only 45 minutes from my mom, and it would be really nice to visit her. Samantha grace her smile for 1 picture, and luckily I got it on my rebel. I used the 50mm lens because the background is not something to be desired and I need a large apature to blur out the background. After some photoshop magic, and viola... here is the end result. Not bad for an amateur right?

Meeting Eliza...

I finally took the kids to meet their brand new cousin, Eliza. She was born on Wednesday September 3rd, at 3 weeks early. At a healthy 7 pounds 6 ounce, I bet her mom was glad that she came early :) The reason she is under that hediuous aqua blue thing is she is a bit jaundice, and is getting light treatment. I still wanted to get pictures anyways. I will be going back when she is done, to take her picture for the birth announcement, let's hope she will cooperate with me then. Congrats to the proud parents: Blaine and Lindsey.

My Big Fat Chinese Family

This was taken a couple of weeks ago at my mom's cousin, Peter and his wife Susan's wedding banquet. We Chinese people love to get together and EAT! This is just my mom's side of the family, and not everyone was present! Yes, just like the Greeks, we like to eat and procreate. My great grandmother had 10 kids and it just went on from there! Congratulations Peter and Susan!

I want to SEW!

Samantha has watched me sew for more than 2 years now. She's my little helper, I use that term very loosely. After countless times of asking me to let her sew, I finally caved today. She was a natural! I, of course, set the speed to the slowest, showed her how to set the foot up and down, needle up and down, and start and stop. She just sewed the same square over and over again, she has even learned how to pivot! She told me that she wanted to learn how to serge next, I'm like "slow down, little girl!" But I'm so proud of her! She is learning to sew at 4 years old! Soon, She will be better at sewing than I am! After Sewing for 10 minutes, she told me, "Tomorrow, you can be my customer and I will sew for you. But you serge for me, because that is scary." My little girl, all grown up! Sniff.... Sniff.....

Citizenship: An update...

Thank you to all those wonderful contributions that I've received, I am able to take the next step towards getting my US citizenship. I filled out the application, took passport photos, wrote a check and sent the whole thing in on Saturday, August 23. On "A Guide To Naturalization" it states the process from start to finish (meaning when I am actually an American) normally takes 6 months. But I've also heard that in less populated states, it will be faster. I'm thinking not that many people are applying for citizenships in Utah, so I am hoping for a shorter waiting period. Meanwhile, I get to do these sample civics questions, do you know them??

1. Who elects the President of the United States?
2. What are the three branches of our government?
3. What were the original 13 states?
4. What is the Bill of Rights?
5. What group has the power to declare war?

First Day Of First Grade

Alas.... This day has come... My baby, my first born, my one and only son is off to his first day of first grade. On top of that, he is going to a brand new school where he is not in the same class as his bestest friend, Treyson. He is SO nervous (perhaps I have instill some fear into him) about where he is suppose to be, who to be friends with, and if I will be home when he gets back! I just hope he brings his jacket home and not leave it at school. It was tough for him to get up even though he's had 11 hours of sleep. We did have to wake him up at 5 AM the day before to get to the airport.

So it was a sleepy start....

But I did manage to get a smile...

Time to wait for the bus...

Life's Tough Choices

For kids, there are some tough choices in life: to listen to parents or do what he/she wants, to share or not, who to make friends, and perhaps the toughest of all: which prize to pick at the Chuck E. Cheese counter. Anna got the mood of the picture perfect! It almost takes as long for them to pick out what they want as me winning the tickets for them. Why do I keep winning tickets for them??? It must be my competitive streak. I love winning tickets! I like to play twister and winning the bonus. But I couldn't get that darn I yesterday but Sean came to the rescue and did it with just 1 token! All in all, we got 625 tickets, and the kids picked some little toys and a whole bunch of tootsie roll pop. I love taking the kids to Chuck E Cheese! Yes, it's loud, rowdy, kind of dirty.... but it's where a kid can be a kid (mommies too)!

Thanks to the overwhelming response, I had the privilege of writing many Thank You notes! The first batch of note are on their way to many places! The furtherest note is going to Ms Beth in Holland! (I hope I put enough stamps!) The most exotic, is to Ms Rachel, in Hawaii. Most note are going to South, but California has the most note right now coming to their states! It is so fun addressing them by hand and seeing these fun town names that people are from!

I am really close now, and can't wait to go back home to fill out my form! I am visiting family right now in CA and won't be back until the end of August. So much yummy food to eat but way too much carb! eek! We still have to go to the beach and go see the Golden Gate Bridge!

I am currently reading Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix and getting to the part where Harry is about to return to Hogwarts after the Christmas break. I really dislike Umbridge, that woman is FOUL! If you have not picked up the series, you should! it's so good!!

UPDATE: Someone trolled on my and ebay decided to pull my auction.....grrrrrrrr! But the good news is I am at $306, and that is almost at the half way mark!!! That is just in 1 day :) Less than 24 hours no less! Well, I'm headed to the airport, so I'll deal with all this ebay stuff tomorrow! Funny enough, I will be only 10 minutes from ebay headquarter, protest anyone???

Cali Here We Come!

We are going back to the BAY AREA tomorrow!!! I am super stoked! We have been in Utah since December and I've not seen my mom or any other family member for 7 months! Yes, I know that is not that long to some people, but it is to me!! I can't wait to eat yummy sushi, assortment of Asian food, and In n Out!! We have a lay over at reno that's gonna suck, wish they would have baby sitting at the airport so I can play slots to pass the time. (shhhhh yes I know that makes me a bad mommy, but I hate waiting!) I guess it's back to the old stand by for passing the time, readying Harry Potter. I'm on The Order Of The Phoenix, and that Umbridge woman is FAUL!

Anyways, can't blog without posting a picture... Sami broke my 50mm 1.8 lens, that I'm still depressed about, so this was not taken by me but by my father in law. We were visiting Aunt Linda's family in Salt Lake and they live in this community call Day Break. Seriously nice place: lake, bridge, playground, paths for walks. But what is up with this toy??? It's like this big slider.... but to me, that is just a lawsuit waiting to happen!

Meatloaf A La Paula Dean

My good friend Nicole suggested this meatloaf recipe by Paula Dean when I asked for a good meatloaf recipe, so I decided to try it! It was super easy even though I don't really good or even made meatloaf before. It was yummy, and cheap to make! Follow the recipe below :

Preheat your oven: 375 degrees F (I always forget this part for some reason!)

Gather your ingredients:

1 pound ground beef
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
1 egg, lightly beaten
8 ounces canned diced tomatoes with juice
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats

Topping:
1/3 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard

Mix all meatloaf ingredients well and place in a baking dish. Shape into a loaf, or put meat in a loaf pan like I did!

Topping:
Mix ingredients for topping and spread on loaf.

This is what it looks like before it goes in the oven:

Put it in the oven for 1 hour ( I think for high altitude, like me, need an additional 10 minutes)

Voila, this is what it looks like an hour later! I really need to work on my food photography :)

It was really yummy! Serve it with a side of potatoes and dinner is ready to go! Try it sometimes :)

Brand New Attitude

Here is Samantha modeling for me for the first time, since the hair cut. She just looks so sassy doesn't she? I've also made a Foofa dress her size so customers can see what it looks like on a real live girl instead of just laying there on a bed. I used a grey card for the first time too, I must say the pictures look warmer and much better than not using it. I really need a better photography assistant. Sean, who is only 6, does not a good assistant make! He steps on my reflector and wiggle around and makes his sister, the model, loses focus! I told him he was fired, and that made him upset. I really need to be more sensitive! Anyways, here is the result! The dress is currently for sale in my etsy store right now :) Go check it out!

A new haircut

Here is Samantha in her brand new haircut! Gaylene cut about 4-5 inches from the bottom and gave her A cut bob. I just LOVE IT! It looks modern and adorable! It will be a while before I can put it in pigtails or ponytails but I think she looks so chic! Daddy and grandpa won't like it though, (they haven't seen it yet) they like traditional long hair on girls. Rhead was teasing her that she won't be a "princess" anymore! What a mean thing to say lol But if he really knew his princesses, he'd know that Snow White actually has short hair! Well I like it and Samantha likes it. The new hair cut will make our lives easier now that we don't have to battle the rat's nest that she wakes up with every morning!

Miss Samantha turns 4!

We celebrated Samantha's 4th birthday early at Park City, UT. She picked out her favorite cake, chocolate with chocolate frosting and sprinkles, and grandma baked it for her. She wore her fancy birthday party dress that I got from Nordstorm(40% off wooo hooooo!!) and opened presents! Park City was sooooo fun! It's about 30 miles from Salt Lake City, where all the celebrities stay during the sundance film festival. We shopped at the outlets, got an Oreo cookie covered apple at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory(yummmmm!) and swam in a half indoor half outdoor pool at the condo! The weather was perfect, and we sat on the hill and watched a beautiful firework show. It was a great, fun-filled, weekend! Check out the slide show on the side!

Yellowstone

We went to Yellowstone National Park last week for about a week and stayed at the
Fishing Bridge RV campsite. Luckily we had hookup, otherwise I would have died, I mean, had a hard time. (okay, yes, I am a big wimp and I need my comforts!) But now comes the best part! Picture share!!! I was excited to bring my DSLR and get some amazing photos, I snapped about 300 pictures and about 200 were decent. Don't worry, I'm not going to share all 200! :P

The first one is of Samantha with all her "fancy" accessories, walking on a log, She was pretending to be "Fancy Nancy." Then I caught this kodak moment (though it should be a canon moment because that's my camera), I thought it was really sweet with Samantha and her grandparents. We also went to see the mud pots, where gas escapes from the earth and make these bubbles in the mud. This one was all dried up but I thought it looked cool! At the mud pots, there were 3 buffaloes just hanging out so Sean took a picture with it!
Old Faithful was as faithful as ever, but not as on time as it used to be. It was pretty amazing to see it go off, Sean just LOVED IT! He kept saying, "oh my gosh! oh my gosh!!"
On our way to having a picnic with the rest of the family, we saw this CUTE little black bear on the side of the road, he (maybe she?) was literally inches from the pavement, then got scared off by an ice cream truck!
There were beautiful waterfalls in the park but the best one is at The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, it was awesome to see. The other cool thing about Yellowstone were these hot springs. They have all these crazy colors and just vivid and bright. It's better to go on a cool day because it gets pretty steaming looking at them. They have signs up showing a kid who got off the boardwalk, getting burned while the mom screams from a distance. And accurately depicting the dad not noticing anything and walking away! I thought it was SO funny, too bad I didn't get a picture of it!
Since Rhead had to go to Arizona for training and couldn't come with us, the kids decided to turture someone else instead, their grandpa.
But in the end, they always seem to have the best time with grandma.

Summer Fun Box Swap!

Boutique Girlfriends decided to have a summer fun box swap where each child shops for another child and ship it to him/her (with mommy's help of course!) Yesterday the kids got their box,finally, after days looking for the maillady. They were SO excited to open their box and Sean kept saying "oh I'm gonna cry...."

Donnalyn and Alexander gave Sean and Samantha: bubble guns (even batteries), bubbles, crayons, coloring books, cars for sean, polly pocket for sami. It was fun times all around!

I got my Canon Rebel XT wednesday and have been practicing with it EVERYDAY!
It is SO fun to play with the settings and the lenses. I have SO much to learn, it's not even funny. I got the bundle with the body, kit lens, spare battery, camera bag and memory card from Adorama.com for $508 with free shipping. Disney On Ice: Princess Wishes

I took Samantha to her first Disney On Ice show, Friday March 14. I have never seen one before, so I was pretty excited too. The show had all the princesses: Jasmin, Snow White, Ariel, Mulan, Aurora, and Cinderella! We even saw Tinkerbell, Mickey and Minnie, plus Goofy! The princes were there too! Of course we had to get snacks, Samantha choose kettle corn, lemonade and cotton candy. She was really good and did not ask to buy any souvenirs. I made her a special princess dress, Amy of lizzysloops made the princess bows and Alicia of butterflygems made the princess bracelets. It was a magical afternoon!

A Visit To Prusch Farm

Yesterday we went to Prusch Farm in San Jose because they had a Harvest Festival. I've never been there before, so I had to Google the instruction. Google map has always provided for me, so I didn't question it. So when we were driving there, we got LOST, using the direction!! We were lost for 20 minutes!!! Then finally we found it! It was just to the right of the free way exit! No like the wild goose chase that google sent us on! Anyways.... The farm is HUGE!! It sits on 47 acres and is the only public farm in Santa Clara County. They had all kinds activities there: ladybug lady, rare veggies display, petting zoo, pony rides and of course pumpkin patch! There was also this Native American Tribe that danced beautifully for everyone to see. I love all their headdresses. It was really neat for the kids to see also, it was their first time. Samantha was absolutely mesmerized.

To The Pumpkin Patch We Go!

The kids have been anxiously awaiting for the pumpkin patch to open for a few weeks now. Finally, yesterday, October 1st arrives, and it has opened! Rhead, mom and I took the kids there and of course they wanted to go on the jump houses. Whatever happened to just picking out pumpkins?? Every pumpkin patch has a gimmick now because business has been going down. To draw out the kids, they have to have jump houses or other activities. So we let them play, get their energy out. 5 bucks each for 15 minutes, which is not too bad because Sean was red and sweaty by the end of the 15 minutes. He got some GOOD exercise. We still have to go to another pumpkin patch that has trains and barnyard animals, it is one of our favorite pumpkin patches to visit. We probably won't make it to Half Moon Bay this year for the Pumpkin festival, it's always a mad house with traffic there! Can't wait to post some pictures with a brand new camera that I'm getting!!!

Welcoming Fall in San Francisco

We went up to the city yesterday to have lunch at one of our favorite restaurant, Scoma's, at Pier 39. They have the BEST clam chowder in the city, and the best seafood. It's a bit pricey for us, that's why we only go once in a while! Then we walked down to Ghirardelli Square, played in the sand a bit. And of course, Samantha just had to get her bottom half wet! Then we had the most delicious dessert at Ghirardelli, Cookie Bottom Hot Fudge Sundae!! All four of us shared one, but it was just PERFECT!

So After putting a billion calories in out belly, we walked it off at the Golden Gate Bridge. We didn't walk far, Sami was REALLY tired. But it was a nice clear day, we could see all around the bay, it was really beautiful. A perfect fall day!

We are celebrating our design group, Elan Boutique's 1st Birthday! I can't believe it has been a year since we started this whole thing, time flies when you are having fun!! Art and Wine Festival

We went to the annual Mountain View Art and Wine Festival today and had a blast! They had a new booth there this year that sold cool handmade wands. Sean made huge bubbles, it was really amazing to see! We walked around Castro Street for about an hour, and the kids got to play at the Kid's park. Anna got some great shoots of the kids!Sean did the giant jump slide and jump house while Samantha watched (she was too chicken to do anything!) Then we went to In N Out for lunch! We had a great morning walking around and it was a beautiful day to do it in! Next week, we are going to the Santa Clara Art and Wine Festival! Can't wait!

First Day of Preschool

Today was Samantha's first day of preschool. She was so excited! Of course she didn't want to wear the dress I made her, so I had to use my persuasion skill to get her to wear it. It took 20 minutes to have her convinced that by wearing the dress, she will be the prettiest girl in class. First day of school was only 1 hour (I wished it was longer), so it was pretty much time to pick her up when I got home.

She made a small project and got some play dough from the her teacher, Mrs. Dallas.
Samantha can't wait to go again!

In honor of that, and Sami going to preschool for the first time, I designed 3 sets for her to go to school or party with. She keeps asking me, "is it Halloween yet?"

Fall Euro Set

I have this beautiful Euro style skirt and appliqué top set for fall on ebay right now.
It is made out of medium weight twill and has lots of twirl.
Wear it with a jean jacket or a cardigan, it is a perfect transitional set.
